Gary Lee King passed away unexpectedly on December 9, 2025 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was 61.

Gary was born on July 30, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois to Edna Lee Seagraves and Marine Sergeant David Clifford King. As a child in a military family, he moved around multiple times. Gary excelled when he competed in state level wrestling with Natural Bridge High School in Virginia, and later graduated from North Davidson High School in North Carolina in 1982.

Gary spent much of his career in the restaurant industry as a grill cook, a sous chef and a kitchen manager combined over 30 years. He was known for his passion and dedication. Gary took pride in his service and valued the relationships he built with so many along the way.

Outside of work, Gary loved playing pool and riding his motorcycle—two passions that brought him a great sense of freedom and joy. He had a natural gift for conversation and could make friends wherever he went.

Gary will be remembered for his easygoing nature, hardworking spirit, and the connections he formed throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Thomas (Jo) King, and is survived by his sons, Spencer (Lacey) King and Dylan (Fawn) King; grandchildren, Skyler, Atlas, Kambree, and Mia; brother, Ronald (Sandy) King; niece, Meghan; nephews Joseph and Sean; close cousins Jackie (Chuck) McColister and Eva Jean Hodge; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services are yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you play a game of pool while listening to a playlist of Billy Idol, Pink Floyd, Hootie & the Blowfish, David Allen Coe, and 80s & 90s Rock Music in memoriam.
