Jose Ernesto “Pepito” Cabrera Abreu, 62, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on February 13, 2026.
Born on September 26, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York, Jose was the beloved son of Ernesto Cabrera Santiago and the late Carmen Maria Abreu Gonzales, affectionately known as “Tati,” who preceded him in death.
Affectionately known as “Pepito,” he was the father of Adlin; Joseph; Tamara; Shyane; and Kacy, and stepfather to Meryan, the eldest among the children. He was also a proud grandfather to many, a role that brought him joy and extended his legacy into another generation.
His heart was big, expressive, and full of love — especially when he was surrounded by his children and family. The spark in his eyes and the energy he carried reflected the deep love he held within. His presence was unmistakable, and the warmth he brought into a room will always be remembered.
He is survived by his wife; his father, Ernesto Cabrera Santiago; his younger brother, Omar; and extended family members.
Pepito had a lifelong passion for fishing and mechanical work. He enjoyed working on engines and, as a child, built detailed scale model cars, reflecting his focus and creativity.
Psalm 23 brought him comfort and remains a reminder of faith and guidance:
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want…"
He will be remembered with love.
