Obituary of Mark Lavaine Howard

Mark Lavaine Howard - 57 of Jacksonville, FL passed on Friday, October 28, 2022 at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. Mark was born on January 22, 1965 to Willie Lee “Peggy” Howard and Simon Johnson in Fernandina Beach, FL. Mark was reared in the Nassau County area known as “Lessie”. He attended the schools of Nassau County and was a 1983 graduate of Fernandina Beach High School. He was employed by Dirt Works of Atlantic Beach, FL. On December 2, 2021 Mark was in a vehicle accident and sustained debilitating injuries and from that day his health declined. Mark was a fun loving, hard working man who loved to be around family and friends. He considered himself an awesome cook, he was a great friend and a loving father and son, Mark adored his daughters and grand-daughters and loved spending time with them. On Friday, October 28, 2022 Mark entered his eternal rest. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters Brittany and Whitney Howard of Jacksonville, FL; His mother Willie Lee “Peggy” Howard (Hilliard, FL); Father Simon (Verdell) Johnson (Kingsland, GA); Aunt - Carroll Yopp, (Jacksonville, FL) Grand-daughters Aaliyah Howard and Cheyenne Jenkins; Sisters - Selma Robinson and Tarshia (Alex) Hopkins; Brothers Pervis (Grace) Johnson and Darryl (Marsha) Johnson, Uncles - Joseph (Jan) Gates, Corinthian Gates; Aunts: Queen Williams and Louise Johnson. Special Cousins - Michael (Winifred) Favors, Timothy Donald and Corey (Elisa) Donald. Godson - Aaron Favors. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends including good friends Anita Palmer, Darryl Mason, Beatrice Jones, Robert Reed, Gina Evans and Wille B Evans, Jr.. Services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, 11:00 AM at Mount Horeb Missionary Baptist Church, 58552 Coopers Neck Road, Hilliard, FL (Lessie Community), Rev. Dr. Wallace Wyatt, Pastor. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, November 4th, 2022 from 4:00PM-7:00PM. Interment will be immediately following the service at Brickyard Cemetery, 581705 Brickyard Landing Rd, Hilliard, FL 32046. Arrangements in the care of A.B.
