Clem Payne, Jr. Obituary

Clem Payne , Jr. affectionally known to many as "Lightfoot", was born on September 15, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida to Cora Jenkins and Clem Payne. Sr. He attended the local public schools of Duval County, including Stanton High School, where he was proud to be a Blue Devil.


Clem later met and married the love of his life, Geralene Payne. He was employed in the service industry as a mover, until his health declined. Clem loved to dance and was full of humor. He had a true passion for the love Dallas Cowboys, but moreover, for his family.


Clem was preceded in death by his mother, Cora Jenkins; his father, Clem Payne, Sr.; siblings: Leroy Payne, Harriet Johnson, Janice Payne, and Clemantine Payne; and great nephew, Trevon Glover.


Clem leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving and devoted wife, Geralene Payne; two daughters: Tammeka M. Payne and LeKeshia Raysor; two stepsons, Dominique Johnson (Shan) and Michael Johnson; seven granddaughters, Destiny Mack, Breyanna Ellison, Bria Ellison, Destinee Sherwood, Diamon Collier (Onzie), Jasmynn Grimsley and Rae Grimsley; nine great grandsons; five great granddaughters; sisters: Sara Gordon (Donald) and Angeline Johnson; brothers: Robert Bannister, Cardell Payne (Otibho) and Clearance Payne; sister-in-law, Linda Johnson (Cameron); brother-in-law, Robert L. Mikell III (Tamara); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and many dear friends.


Celebration of Life for Clem Payne, Jr. will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 11:00AM in the A.B. Coleman Memorial Chapel, 5660 Moncrief Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32209. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 4PM-7PM at the mortuary. Final resting place will be in Restlawn Cemeteries.
